Trade in textile raw materials and fibres

Since the foundation of GLAESER in 1888, we have taken care of the production of fibers from textile waste or textile raw materials, which hereupon has been increasingly promoting trade of raw materials or waste since the 1950s.

The trade department for fibers and textile raw materials was set up and built up by one of the two then managing directors, Wolfgang Spur.

Originally, this new department dealt specifically with the trade of textile waste, which was also processed into fibers in the company’s own processing and shoddy production department. At the time, this was mainly production waste made from natural fibers such as cotton, wool and mixtures thereof.

With the emergence of the synthetic fiber industry in the 1960s, all types of second choice fibers (also known as substandard fibers) and special items were increasingly purchased from the production plants. The development increasingly went towards trading in synthetic fibers, especially polyester, acrylic, viscose, but also polyamide and polypropylene.

These substandard fibers are then collected in our warehouse in the same or similar lots, sometimes also sorted and, if necessary, pressed into new bales. Sorting gives us the opportunity, among other things, to adapt the qualities to the requirements of the customers. The same applies, of course, to the waste we trade.

Today, our fiber trade sells and trades both 1st and 2nd choice staple fibers and textile production waste. We deal with a wide variety of fiber types, such as polyester, viscose, acrylic, polyamide and polypropylene. We carry these types of fibers in white as well as in colors or in colored transition sections (different colors mixed). In addition to primary fibers (virgin) in the various fiber types, we also trade in recycled polyester fibers.

In addition, the technical area is a strong pillar of our fiber trade. Here we deal with all kinds of para-aramids and meta-aramids. In addition, Preox and Modacryl are moved. In this technical area, we not only deal with virgin, but also with recycled fibers and in particular with the corresponding waste from these technical fibers Para-Aramid, Meta-Aramid, Preox and Modacryl. We not only move waste from textile production, but also waste that accumulates after the use of aramid products, such as discarded bullet proof vests.
